Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Not So Grave.

These terms and conditions govern your use of this website, located at https://notsograve.co.uk (the "Site"). By using the Site you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Site.

Not So Grave is owned and operated by Alveta Media Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (Company Number 15017010), whose registered office is at 124 City Road, London, United Kingdom, EC1V 2NX ("we", "us", "our").

Not So Grave ® is a registered trade mark with the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) in the United Kingdom.

Information, not advice

Not So Grave provides general information and educational resources about death planning, estate planning and related financial topics in the United Kingdom. Nothing on this Site constitutes legal, financial, tax or other professional advice, and nothing on this Site should be relied upon as such.

We are not a firm of solicitors, a regulated will-writing service, or a firm authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. No solicitor-client, adviser-client or other professional relationship is created by your use of the Site or by your downloading or use of any document from it.

The information on the Site is general in nature and cannot take account of your individual circumstances. Laws, tax rules and thresholds change, and while we work hard to keep content accurate and current, we do not warrant that any information is correct, complete or up to date at the time you read it. Before acting on anything you read here, and particularly before making decisions affecting your estate, your family or your finances, you should consider taking advice from a solicitor, regulated financial adviser or other appropriately qualified professional.

Free templates and downloads

We provide free downloadable documents, including will templates and related guides (the "Templates"). The Templates are provided free of charge, as-is, for your personal use only. In relation to the Templates:

  • You are responsible for deciding whether a Template is suitable for your circumstances. The Templates are designed for simple estates and are not suitable for everyone. Our guidance sets out when a DIY approach is appropriate and when you should take professional advice instead; please read it before using any Template.

  • You are responsible for completing, signing and witnessing any document correctly. A will is only legally valid if it is executed in accordance with the applicable legal formalities. Our guides explain these requirements, but responsibility for meeting them rests with you.

  • The will Templates are designed for estates governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in, or your assets are subject to the law of, Scotland, Northern Ireland or another jurisdiction, different rules apply and you should take advice.

  • We do not review, check or approve completed documents, and we have no knowledge of how any Template is completed or used.

  • If you are in any doubt, ask a solicitor or reputable will-writing service to prepare or review your will. Having a solicitor review a completed will is typically available for a modest fixed fee.

Licence and intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, Alveta Media Limited and/or its licensors own the intellectual property rights in all material on the Site. All rights are reserved.

You may view, download and print material from the Site, including the Templates, for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may complete and use the Templates for your own personal estate planning.

You must not, without our express written permission:

  • republish, reproduce or redistribute material from the Site, including the Templates, whether commercially or otherwise;

  • sell, rent, sub-license or charge others for access to any material from the Site; or

  • remove any branding, form references or copyright notices from the Templates or other documents.

If you would like to link to the Site, you are welcome to do so, provided the link is not deceptive and does not falsely imply sponsorship, endorsement or approval by us. You may not use our logo or other artwork for linking without a trade mark licence agreement. We reserve the right to ask you to remove any link to the Site, and you agree to do so promptly on request.

Paid services

Some services offered through or alongside the Site may be paid for, such as newsletter subscriptions or booked calls. Where that is the case, separate terms will apply to that service and will be made available to you before you pay. Any call or correspondence with us provides general information and education only and does not constitute legal, financial or tax advice, regardless of whether it is paid for. Payments are processed by third-party providers under their own terms and privacy policies.

Third-party links and services

The Site contains links to third-party websites and services. These are provided for your convenience. We do not control them, and we are not responsible for their content, availability, terms or privacy practices. A link does not imply our endorsement. Some links on the Site are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you make a purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. See our homepage for further detail.

Acceptable use

You must not use the Site in any way that is unlawful, that damages or impairs the Site or its availability, or that infringes the rights of any third party.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to the paragraph above:

  • The Site, its content and the Templates are provided free of charge and on an "as is" basis, without any representation, warranty or condition as to their accuracy, completeness, suitability or availability.

  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on general information published on the Site, or from your use of, or inability to use, any Template, in each case where that information or Template is provided to you free of charge.

  • We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, savings or opportunity.

If you have any concern about content on the Site, please contact us and we will look into it.

Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you use the Site is the version that applies. We will update the "Last updated" date below whenever we make changes.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Site, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
